MEYER SOUND MILO 120: High-Power Expanded
Coverage Curvilinear Array Loudspeaker
MILO 120. Broaden Your Horizons......A variation
on the popular Meyer Sound MILO high-power curvilinear loudspeaker, the
Meyer Sound MILO 120 high-power expanded coverage curvilinear array loudspeaker
excels where wide horizontal and increased vertical coverage are needed.
The self-powered Meyer Sound MILO 120 is a compact, lightweight four-way
system that provides 120 degrees of horizontal and 20 degrees of vertical
coverage. In addition to its expanded coverage pattern, the MILO 120 loudspeaker
is optimized for medium to near field applications, making it the perfect
downfill complement for standard Meyer Sound MILO or Meyer Sound M3D line
array loudspeaker systems, or in other fill applications that can be satisfied
by one or two cabinets. The Meyer Sound MILO 120 can also be used by itself
to form wide coverage arrays or as a single cabinet.

As part of the Meyer Sound M Series, the Meyer Sound MILO 120 loudspeaker
comes standard with Meyer Sound’s exclusive RMS remote monitoring
system. The Meyer Sound MILO 120 shares the same dimensions as the standard
Meyer Sound MILO cabinet to facilitate seamless integration with Meyer
Sound MILO and existing Meyer Sound MILO QuickFly rigging accessories,
like the MG-3D/M multipurpose grid and MCF-MILO caster frame. The flexibility
of the Meyer Sound MILO 120 also allows it to be configured with other
Meyer Sound loudspeakers in complex systems.
The Meyer Sound MILO 120 produces a peak output of 138 dB SPL with exceptionally
flat phase and frequency response. Its wide operating frequency range
(60 Hz to 18 kHz) is complemented by extended high-frequency headroom
and a dedicated very-high frequency section (4.2 kHz to 18 kHz) that renders
delicate transient information with detailed resolution through its wide
coverage pattern. The Meyer Sound MILO 120 loudspeaker’s acoustical
characteristics are designed to facilitate seamless integration when used
with other Meyer Sound MILO curvilinear elements.
The optional Meyer Sound MILO 120-I insert (see
related paper - 3.94Mb, pdf) can be fitted to enhance the
appearance of arrays that include the MILO 120, and also provides a small
acoustical benefit.
| QuickFly: The Fastest, Easiest Rigging
System in Captivity |
| Fitted as standard, the Meyer Sound MILO
120’s QuickFly rigging employs simple, rugged and reliable components
that remain captive in transit. Flown and ground-stacked Meyer Sound
MILO 120 arrays and combined MILO/MILO 120/M3D/M3D-Sub arrays are
possible using Meyer Sound MILO QuickFly components like the MG-3D/M
multipurpose grid.
Custom front and rear AlignaLinks at the cabinet corners couple
the units for flying or stacking, and allow from 13 (minimum) to
19 (maximum) degrees of cabinet splay adjustable in two-degree increments.
If circumstances dictate an acute array curve, then a PBF-MILO
pull-back frame can be attached to the lowest cabinet (MTB-2D/M
transition bars required).
|

|
|

The versatile Meyer Sound MG-3D/M multipurpose
grid accommodates a variety of hanging configurations (multipoint
support, bridles, etc.) for MILO 120 arrays.

The Meyer Sound MILO 120-I insert simultaneously provides a pleasing
look and acoustic functionality.
|
The Meyer Sound MILO 120 utilizes unique, self-seating
AlignaLinks for coupling and angling between adjacent cabinets.
Front AlignaLinks provide a secure pivoting connection, while rear
AlignaLinks allow swift setting of vertical array angles from 13
to 19 degrees in 2-degree increments.
AlignaLink connections use custom quick release pins for speedy
setup and teardown. All load stresses are transmitted through the
rigging frames and associated hardware — not through the wooden
cabinets.
|
 |
Meyer Sound MILO 120s make ideal downfill and near-fill
loudspeakers under MILO arrays. MILO 120 AlignaLinks make this arrangement
simple and secure.
|
 |
Ground-stacked arrays of up to five Meyer Sound
MILO 120 cabinets (or the equivalent height of MILO 120 and M3D-Sub
cabinets) can be built with minimal labor and maximum safety using
an inverted MG-3D/M multipurpose grid.
|
 |
The Meyer Sound MILO 120 loudspeaker attaches quickly
and easily above or below M3D and M3D-Sub cabinets, with MTR-3D/M
transition rails forming a stable link between adjacent cabinets.
|
 |
The Meyer Sound MILO 120 loudspeaker is truck-smart,
with exterior cabinet dimensions that are ideal for both European
and U.S. truck widths. Optional custom caster frames allow smooth
transport of stacks of up to four Meyer Sound MILO 120 cabinets
and facilitate the use of forklifts. The custom MILO 120 AlignaLinks
allow a variety of options for transporting MILO 120 with or without
the MILO 120-I insert (shown above without).

MEYER SOUND MILO 120 and M3D-Sub
A Meyer Sound MILO 120/MILO/M3D-Sub combination affords the same
precise low-frequency directional control that has won widespread
acclaim for M3D systems - while keeping overall size and weight
to a minimum.
|
|
|
FEATURES & BENEFITS
|
- Width matches MILO and MILO 120 for easy
integration
- Cardioid response pattern
- Controlled coverage to 30 Hz
- 4500 W internal amplifier
|
| The Meyer Sound M3D-Sub incorporates the
proprietary directional bass technology pioneered in Meyer Sound’s
award-winning PSW-6 high-power cardioid subwoofer, providing a well-controlled
coverage pattern all the way to 30 Hz. A pair of front-mounted 18-inch
drivers work in conjunction with a pair of rear-facing 15-inch drivers,
with amplifier channels for the two pairs driven by a sophisticated
phase manipulation circuit. The resulting directional pattern assures
that very low-frequency energy does not spill onto the stage or cause
excessive reverberation. Due to its exceptional linearity, the M3D-Sub's
directional characteristics are maintained even at extremely high
sound pressure levels.
The Meyer Sound M3D-Sub features a high-power (4500 watt), class
AB/H complementary MOSFET power amplifier with integrated frequency
and phase response correction and driver protection circuits. Meyer
Sound’s RMS remote monitoring system interface is fitted as
standard.
|
| MEYER SOUND MILO 120 and 700-HP
In applications where directional low-frequency control is not
primary, a Meyer Sound MILO and Meyer Sound MILO 120 array can be
deployed adjacent to or ground stacked with Meyer Sound 700-HP subwoofers.
The 700-HP subwoofer extends the MILO/MILO 120 system frequency
response down to 30 Hz.
|
FEATURES & BENEFITS:
|
- Ultrahigh SPL for a comparatively lightweight,
easily rigged subwoofer
- Extremely low distortion for the ultimate
in low-frequency clarity
- High peak power yielding excellent transient
reproduction
- Exceptionally rugged and reliable
- Easy to stack or fly
|
| With significantly more output than other
“high-power” subwoofers, the Meyer Sound 700-HP sets a
new standard for the power-to-size equation. The 700-HP’s power
and bandwidth handle high continuous operating levels and extreme
transient information with minimal distortion in its operating frequency
range. Designed for stage or ground stacking, the 700-HP also can
be flown using its optional MRK-700 rigging kit, which can be installed
at the factory or as a field upgrade. |
